How to set it up

Slack with OpenAI dots

Shared ChatGPT connection Sources reviewed October 6, 2026

Find decisions and unresolved questions in accessible Slack conversations.

What it does

The ChatGPT Slack app can search messages, threads and channels you are permitted to access. Available actions depend on authorization and workspace controls.

How to set it up

In ChatGPT, open Plugins or Apps and find the connection. Authorize the correct provider account and review the requested access. Check that the connection is available before starting a task.

Connect the intended Slack workspace and check its access requirements. Giving a dot its own Slack identity is a separate setup from letting it use this connection.

Limits to know

Search access does not grant access to every private channel. Available write actions must be checked separately; this entry does not promise unrestricted posting.

Suggested prompt

Review this week's discussion in the channel I select. List decisions, unanswered questions and named owners, with links. Do not post a reply.

Suggested workflow, not a tested automation.
